We have arrived to the duemilauno and the succeeded things when I was boy are the other century's stuff!
But I have many friends who write the memories of their good old days..

Here you can read about an italian friend Fosca and an italo-american one Angelo..

This is the story of Fosca, from Colle, about times when she was a little girl and she used to go to the cinema..
"I quattro cavalieri dell'apocalisse", "Sangue e arena", "Il figlio dello sceicco".
"Fosca Cambi Deri"

I have a new friend, Angelo, living very far from me, but his life was not so different from the mine, read his words..
Angelo's Childhood
..my parents were Abruzzese of which I am very proud. My life began on 14 July 1921 on Cottage street in East Boston , Mass.
On our block lived all those people who had immigrated from Italy. For the most part they came from Abruzzo and held to their traditions.
What comes to mind is "La Societa Duca Degli Abruzzi" located in an apartment behind a grocery store owned by Emilio Placido who was also the president at that time.
On a yearly basis they held a picnic to which we traveled a distance to reach in the country area about twenty five miles away. A very long distance at that time.
Another great occasion was " La Festa di Sant'Anna" that was celebrated in the summer time and always ended with a fire works display on the Monday night.
It was always started on Friday night. On Sunday the statue of Saint Ann was taken from our church , mounted on a stand that was carried by men parading through all the streets of the neighborhood. These were exceptional fun days for all.
In the fall, the society held a grand ball in one of the large halls in East Boston.
What I'm trying to tell you that growing up Italian, amongst people who never gorgot who they were makes me ever so proud to be born who I am.
This has led me to research to try to find the family I didn't know about. So far , I've gotten as far as my paternal grandfather after who I was named.
There is ever so much that I can write about and remember but as my mother-in-law Colomba Troiano would say,
" Scuse gli chiachera"
Angelo
Dear Angelo, thanks a lot, in Italian we say "Scusa le chiacchiere" in Tuscan we say instead " Scusa le chiacchere" without the "e"!

If you know or if you have written some beautiful story about other century's stuff, and you like to let us read it, send it to me, so we will read it together on this page.
