The Nesi's story

The family of Giorgio, the Nesi, is the owner of the farm La Selva, between Certaldo and Montespertoli. The Nesi family comes from Lucca, but from the old written of the parish we know thei were living in Lucardo since the 1650. And they have always, since then, cultivated vines and olive trees, from generation to generation, working to sharecropping until 1925, when Giorgio's grandfather bought a part of the farm from the owner and podesta' of the Montespertoli's Commune. After the war, in 19 carnevale 45 the Nesi began also to bottle the wine, then it used the straw flask, manifactured with paper wrapped to the neck in place of the stopper and an oil finger in surface in order to maintain the wine's quality. These flasks came loaded on a wagon hauled from horses called "Tuscany basket". In 1950 Antonio, called Tonio, and his son Giorgio, they bought another farm, La Selva. There were vines and olive groves and , with all their relatives' aid, they planted others of them and today La Selva is an independent company and now with Giorgio there is also his son Simone.
